Baby clothes should be easy to put on and take off and come in soft, washable fabrics that feel good against a baby's skin. Because babies grow so fast, concentrate on buying practical everyday clothes that suit you and your baby's lifestyle and climate. Baby clothes are usually categorized by age and sex with some unisex options available.
Consumer Reports suggests buying a beginner wardrobe of 12 T-shirts and one-piece outfits and buying clothes at least 6-months larger than the infant's age so you get more use out of them.
Typical costs:
Generally, baby outfits can be found for $15 or less at discount stores like Wal-Mart[1] and Target[2] ; for $20 or less at Old Navy[3] , Sears[4] and JC Penney.
With separates averaging $20, expect to pay at least $50 for an outfit at specialty stores like babyGap[5] .
Designer duds, like those available at Tutti Bella, can easily run over $100 for a single outfit.
Popular baby footwear brands include Robeez, which can be found in a range of styles for $35.95 at Zappo's[6] and Stride Rite[7] , also available through Zappo's[8] , with most priced in the $30-$50 range.
Optional accessories such as matching hats or scarves will increase the cost of an outfit.
Discounts:
Because babies grow so quickly, second-hand shops specializing in baby wear often carry items that are as good as new. Most resale shops are independently owned. Look in your local Yellow Pages under "Baby."
Buying sets often costs less than buying separates.
Check online retailers during the holidays for special prices or sign up for their mailing lists to receive special notices and coupons.
Shopping for baby clothes:
Tried and true children's clothing brands include OshKosh B'Gosh[9] and Carter's[10] .
Organic shoppers may appreciate Hanna Andersson's[11] colorful one piece "Zippers" in organic cotton for $28-$36.
For trendy rock and roll styles, Tutti Bella offers a wide selection of classic rock and metal baby T-shirts and onesies in the $35+ range.

I went to Wal-mart and found the cutest outfit for my baby josh. it was so amazing but I have a problem with shopping. I just want to buy everything. So I bought it and IT RIPPED!! (oh-no) so I had to bring it back and the stupid workers wouldnt let me trade it in. I think it was because i had very bad BO that day. but whatever jerks. karma will get them back! (im not a hindu)
There may be a second hand store that buys your gently used baby clothes, depending on the brands, sizes, and the stores availability. One nea me lets you bring in your clothes and other childrens/baby items, checks the brands and their prices, then offers you either an amount for the clothes or in-store credit.
eBay is the place I'd recommend for everyday wear for baby. Parents are selling "lots" with 30+ items for pennies! And it's a great way for you to recycle the clothes your baby grew out of
