Baby Sitter Cost - Buyer Experiences and Price Information

I'm shocked by how much people pay. Since when do you get paid over minimum wage as a teen babysitter? It's tax free & cush if the kids are sleeping.
When min wage was $3.85 the going rate in my area was $1/hr, 1/3 of min wage. You might get $2 from good payers & $3 for 3+ kids. Mind you I always made sure the house was impeccable.
The quality of care is based on the quality of the care provider, not how much you can pay. Paying twice minimum wage doesn't ensure good care. I love kids. I don't need to be paid through the nose to be "willing" to care for them. If I have to pay you $20 to put up with my kids, I don't want you here... at that point I question how much you enjoy it & how much is a just a pay day.
I have 3 kids. I'd never pay more than $8. I mostly watch for friends/family. I watched one child this summer for $50/wk (45hrs) & provided great care. You can't spend enough to ever ensure someone loves kids & enjoys it.

I was wondering while ppl babysit school age kids and younest in k. Do u thimk parents should be bringing their breakfast and lunch. I make 35 a day for both kids.

I actually am a babysitter and I know that I only pay $5 an hour and because of that my uncle wanted me to babysit his 2 year old son and his 5 year old daughter until 10:00pm but the worst part was they turned me Down even though

SO I'm 28 wit three boys ages 11-9-5 Okay I watch this lady's 2 girls age's. 5 months and 3 yrs old well I ain't never been the type Not to like kids I love em All of em!!! Well its already different cause the age's and their girls! I have 3 big boys !! To make matter worse I watch them at my house m-f anywere from 7:20 am to almost 9 on days then the 3 yr old has a smart mouth and she wont listen to me anymore its crazy but I love em lord knows but it can be a lot some times and I don't get paid by the hr she pays me 15 a day I feel I should get way more First off Watching someone elses kids is a lo t harder period but this lady act like she don't understand or just being unappreciative the somewhat good thing comes out of it is that she buys the 3 yr food for my house but shit she stay eating what I done made or what my kids have I dnt mind her having anything but her mother needs to see she has a Great babysitter and pay up. I make 3 hun a month that's not even half a paycheck

I am a student and I needed a babysitter for Valentines Day for me and my son's father to go watch a movie in the theater. When I got to class (I am 28 by the way I just graduated college) I asled some of my friends that I have known for the past 9 months in the classes we have all had together. When one girl said she would do it I felt great because she said she watched her nephew almsot every day. Well I asked her in advance if 20 bucks ould be ok for two kids for two hours and she said it was ok. So I told my boyfriend and he said good but I insisted that we pay her more than that because it was such late notice. I felt that 30 or 40 would brighten up her night. Mind you, we are not working and I am trying to get through college. So the movie ends, we walk home, and the door was locked so we just knock because it is an apartment and I could hear the kids playing in the living room. No one answered for a couple minutes... So I started looking for my keys... but the door opened just then. It was my daughter. We walked in and the girl was SLEEPING ON THE COUCH and my son was playing in the living room in front of her. I wake her up and give her the 20 bucks and told her I would see her tomorrow but I was so mad I wanted to scream! My daughter told me that she left my barely 1 year old boy on the couch too and he jumped off and hit his head.. NEVER and I mean NEVER settle for someone that may not do a good job or is someone that cant prove their education in child development. It needs to be a priority because these types of incidents can be dangerous and sometimes fatal to our kids. Let's treat the good babysitters better and only get ones that charge a normal amount, then you know they are the ones that take pride in what they do. Remember, these are our babies! If something happens to them they cannot be replaced! Thank you that is all...

Going rate in my area is $8-12/hr + add on for more then1 child. I agreed to $5/hr because the job was for a family friend who doesn't have much money.
I watched two children (2&8) from 530-1230. Feed them dinner, played games and tried to put them to bed. I was paid $20!!!! Parent said I was being paid for 4 hours because the children were asleep after that. Will never sit for them again and will only take fair wage. If your broke stay home - but don't cheat your sitter

I was told I was going to babysit a nine year old girl and her seven yearold half brother for about seven hours. When I showed up at the house there were three kids there and when I asked the mom why someone else was here she told me that she let her kids have two friends over each when they had a babysitter. The night was crazy and the parents got back at 2:00 am (the kids finally fell asleep at one), and they were supposed to be home at 12! They paid me 3 dollars and didn't even offer to drive me home( yes I had to walk 20 minutes to my house without a flashlight)!

I have a 4 month old and am looking for someone to watch him 2 days/week in the summer for about 11 hours in our home, no weekends, no house work or additional duties. What is appropriate pay?

The going rate here is $10 an hour (for one child)- That is the standard that everyone I know pays. Although it hurts me to pay that for someone to watch tv while my child sleeps, I'm afraid of who I would get that would charge less than that around here.

Just need clarification. I wI'll be working 10 hrs a day for 4 days. My sister willing wants to baby sit but is asking for $175 a week 2 children one of which is in half day kindergarten. Half of my paycheck will be exactly $160. Should I be paying an aunt more then half my paycheck.

What is reasonable to charge a family with 3 children all under 3. For a 8 day time frame? Typical rate is $15/ hour.

I get paye 3.5$ an hour I think I'm getting ripped off cause I watch 2 kids one is 3 and one is 5 the 3 year old is not potty trained and they have no manners at all I think I should be getting payed atleast 5 to 20$ a day.

I am just a stay at home mom, and with an infant and toddler of my own, its not hard for me to watch for friends who also need a little help getting started when they are all just now starting to have babies, but still work full time. given a couple of them are nurses now, but they are still paying a lot of school stuff, so I tel them I will help them out in the beginning and when they feel they are comfortable to pay more then do so. I hava an SUV that holds nine so its easy, cause I wait til my husband gets home from work to watch my kids and I tote those I am watching with me to do the errands and such. So long as I watch them in my home where I know that I have everything that I need and can still get everything done that I need to get done. I am happy. I have to wake up early to greet them, but thats ok, cause I can stay in my PJs all day if I want, of course I dont past 10am :D I havent had any kids past 6pm yet and I only work Mon-Fri. My kids have playmates and I have money :D

I charge 30 per day per child. I will give a discount for multiple kids in same family. A "day" is anything over 3 hours.
